The Honda Institute has joined in partnership with UK Skills to support the training of the UK WorldSkills Team and their Training Managers. The partnership was announced as the first training event, for Training Managers, took place at The Honda Institute last weekend.

The Honda Institute is helping to prepare both the Team and their Training Managers for the WorldSkills Competition that takes place in Helsinki, Finland in 2005. The WorldSkills Competition challenges young people, teachers, trainers and employers to achieve world-class standards of competence in commerce, services and industry.

The Honda Institute is Europe’s leading technical training and personnel development facility. Based at Colnbrook in Berkshire, the facility is responsible for the development of skills throughout the entire Honda network in the UK, providing personal development programmes for the 10,000 people within the company’s three franchised networks of cars, motorcycles and power equipment.

The Honda Institute has proved that high quality and effective training has real and tangible benefits for business and individuals alike. We are delighted to support the UK Team in their training and preparation for the WorldSkills Competition, says Geoff Matthews of Honda.

Dr Graeme Hall, Acting Chief Executive of UK Skills said: The Honda Institute provides world-class standards of training and the partnership with UK Skills, whose role is to promote excellence in the practice of vocational skills, is a perfect example of how organisations can work together to improve the standards of the UK Workforce and deliver the governments agenda outlined in The Skills Strategy.
